Obituary of Alice Glover

Alice Marie (LeBlanc) Glover, 95, formerly of Midland, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 27, 2019 at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto following a short illness.

Alice was born in Penetanguishene on April 29, 1923, one of 11 children to George and Annie (Baker) LeBlanc, both predeceased. Also predeceased by her loving husband William “Bill” Glover (2012) after 67 years of marriage, son James Glover (2013) and brothers Howard (Grayce), Gerald (Dorine), Joseph (Doretta), Arthur (Mary), John (Edith) and William (Cynthia) LeBlanc. She is survived by younger siblings Marjorie (Hank Colligan) of Buffalo NY, Jean (John Wittman deceased) of Massachusetts, Robert LeBlanc (Annette) of Penetang and Yvonne (Edward Spencer) of Perth, Ontario. Alice is survived by her children William (Jo-Ann) Glover of Kenogami, Stephen Glover of Thailand (Deborah), Pamela Robb (Harold) of Moncton NB, Richard Glover (Brenda Scherloski) of Ottawa and Elizbeth Glover (Steven Carrasco) of Toronto. Fondly remembered by 12 grandchildren, Christi (Ned) Loughrey, Leeann Robb (Mel McNeil), William (Lynn) Glover, Robert (Katie) Glover, Jenna (Patrick) Cooke, Bradley (Vini) Glover, twins Andrew and Craig Robb, Ben and Max Glover, Maya and Noah Carrasco.  Also mourning are ten great grandchildren: Rowan, Sam, Quinn, Jameson, twins Jack and Charlie, Lochlan, Billy, Peter and Vivian.

Following his discharge from WW2, Alice married Bill Glover on October 16, 1945 and they moved directly to the Kirkland Lake gold camp, then Blind River in 1955 during the uranium boom and one final mining camp on Lake Superior before settling in Midland in 1966 where they built a house at Portage Park. Alice was a quilter and devoted member of St. Margaret’s Church in Midland. She lived independently in her own house and drove her own car until age 90.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A family memorial is planned for the summer. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your nearest animal shelter.
