Obituary of Ligori Deigo D'Souza

The Life and Legacy of Ligori Diego D’Souza

Born: December 4, 1936  Called Home: October 12, 2025

Born in Bombay, India, Ligori Diego D’Souza lived a life marked by faith, humility, and quiet strength. A man of few words but immense heart, he carried within him a calm dignity that inspired everyone who knew him.

With his beloved wife Eliza, he shared 66 beautiful years of togetherness — a bond rooted in love, patience, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, prayer, and open doors for all who entered.

They were blessed with five loving children — sons John (Lavina), Lancy (Lizzy), Max (Priya), and daughters Nancy (Max Mendes) and Anita (Sunil Bantwal) — who grew up surrounded by his warmth and wisdom.

His legacy continues through his nine cherished grandchildren — Rayner Mendes, Warren D’Souza, Larissa D’Souza, Shaina Mendes (Webster Lobo), Anoop D’Souza, Varun Bantwal, Neha D’Souza, Tamera Mendes, and Ankit Bantwal — and his precious great-grandson, Isaiah Ligori Lobo, who proudly carries his name and spirit forward.

As a Foreman at the Textile Mill, Ligori was admired for his integrity, diligence, and compassion. But beyond his work, his true calling was kindness. Even with modest means, he had a heart that gave without measure — offering shelter, food, and comfort to anyone who sought it. Many found their first home under his roof, and no one ever left without a meal or a smile. His generosity was not an act; it was who he was.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures — a McDonald’s burger, a sweet treat, or a fizzy pop shared with delight. He loved people, company, and the gentle hum of the world outside his window — his favorite place to sit, watching cars pass and life unfold. That humble window became his quiet retreat, where he found peace in stillness and gratitude in simplicity.

Deeply faithful and pious, Ligori began and ended each day with prayer. He would tenderly kiss every statue and holy picture — a small gesture that reflected a soul deeply anchored in God. His devotion was silent yet steadfast, guiding his family through every season of life.

Ligori’s life was a living lesson — teaching kindness over judgment, humility over pride, and giving over having. He was a man of few words, yet his actions spoke louder than any sermon.

Though the chair by the window now sits empty, his presence fills our hearts. His love lingers in our laughter, his faith echoes in our prayers, and his light continues to shine in every life he touched.

A man of few words, yet a legend — his life was his message, and his love will forever be our light.
