Obituary of Elizabeth Josephine Thompson

Elizabeth (Beth) Josephine Mary Thompson passed away October 16, 2025 while in palliative care at the University Health Network (Toronto General Hospital). She was admitted to the hospital on Saturday October 11 with pancreatitis and respiratory distress.

She spent the past the past 20 months in the Heritage Nursing Home where she received excellent care. Our family is thankful for the kind attention she received there.

Beth was less than two months shy of her 98th birthday. She was the last of her generation in the direct line of descendants of her grandparents, Gottlob Dreher and Marie Widmann.

Beth's hospital notes said "She loves a party." Perhaps that was the Irish in her from her father. She greatly enjoyed family gatherings and never missed one.

Elizabeth was born in Toronto on December 4, 1927. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Thompson, on January 29, 1971, and by her mother, Josephine Mona Dreher, on January 1, 1977. Her brother, Frederick Robert Thompson, died on March 8, 1925, at age three. Elizabeth was born two years after Frederick died. Her ashes are buried in Frederick’s plot at St. John the Baptist Norway Cemetery, Toronto.
