Obituary of Roger Douglas Wright

Roger Douglas Wright, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with his family by his side. Born in Digby, Nova Scotia, Roger carried the spirit of the East Coast with him throughout his life and will return there for his final rest. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Phyllis Wright, and his brothers Neil, Blair, and Bruce Wright.

Roger leaves behind a cherished legacy through his family. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Holly Wright, and his granddaughters, Samantha Poissant (husband Shaun and sons Dawson and Parker) and Alexandra Lamothe (husband Josh and son Henry). He is also survived by his brothers Leigh Wright (wife Gloria and children Leah, Emma, Elizabeth, and Joshua) and Jon Wright (wife Bernadette and daughter Megan), as well as his nieces, Stacey and Sherry.

Roger began his career as a skilled cabinetmaker, later moving into boat building, where his creativity and craftsmanship truly shone. A gifted artist in every sense, he could often be found sketching, painting, sculpting, or building—his hands and imagination rarely at rest. A lifelong lover of science fiction, a good book was never out of reach. Known for his laid-back and easygoing nature, Roger had a quiet warmth that drew people in. He deeply loved his daughter and granddaughters and treasured time spent with them—whether teaching art, breaking out into a spontaneous jive, going on educational walks, enjoying a good burger, or making them laugh with his impressions.

Cremation has taken place, and Roger has returned to the East Coast with family. A small, intimate service will be held in Digby, Nova Scotia, in the coming summer, where family will gather to celebrate his life and lay him to rest. Roger will be remembered for his creativity, his gentle spirit, his love of family, and the quiet joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him
