Obituary of Suzanne Eilzabeth Vaz

Suzanne Elizabeth was born August 6, 1934 in England. She was your typical English lady. She loved birds and dogs, gardens and sun hats, coffee and reading - especially her Hello magazines about the Royal family. She loved playing cards and painting, having a good chat about what was going on in the world and always had the 24 hour News channel on. She also liked going on shopping trips to the second hand store and out on lunch dates.

Suzanne was only 5 years old when World War II broke out in England and survived by being
shipped to the country side, like many children at that time. After the war, she lived in Finland and Sweden. Suzanne was a world traveller in her earlier years. She visited the Holy Lands and India with her husband, Joseph Vaz, whom she married in March 1958. Together they had six children - three born in Nigeria, one in England, and two in Canada, where she eventually settled permanently.

Life gave Suzanne many challenges, but she persevered and made it through each one. She
absolutely adored her nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her eyes lit up anytime she saw them. She always had a good word to say, encouraging them along in life. She was feisty and colorful. A force to be reckoned with, and wasn't afraid to share her opinion.

When Suzanne moved into the nursing home, she became known as the sweetest kindest and most loved lady by all who met her. So much so that her plant and stuffed animal have been kept by the staff as a reminder that she is still with them. She was loved for her British accent and Queen-like ways, her dry sense of humour and her hugs. Her smile was the sweetest because her eyes twinkled.

More recently when Suzanne’s health started to seriously decline, two angels came into her life in the form of companion caregivers. We couldn't have asked for kinder people at Mum’s side. They cared for Suzanne as if she was their own and the love that they showered on her was unending. Tremendous thanks and gratitude goes out to Denise and her mother Nelda for all the love and care, time and prayers you gave our mother. It will be remembered.

Suzanne rests happily in the arms of our savior, reunited with her husband, Joseph and grandson, Liam, but will be greatly missed by her eldest daughter Lucia, grandson, David (Phyllis) and great grandchildren, Niya and Ella;  daughter Inez (Nathan) and grandchildren Natasha and Nathan-Dallas; daughter, Debbie (Bobby) granddaughter, Sarah (Dan) and great grandsons, Colton and Lucas; grandson, Adam (Tiffany); daughter, Jackie (Dave), daughter, Toni (Ray), and granddaughter, Siobhan (Noah) and great grandsons, Milo and Henry; granddaughter, Teghan (Nicole); son, Stephen (Stephanie) and granddaughters Lydia and Merryn.

We love you Mummie.
