Obituary of Mark Heideman

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mark William Heideman announces his tragic passing in his 61st year, on Sunday March 3rd, 2024, at Georgetown Hospital, in Georgetown Ontario, Canada.

Mark was born in Jackson, Michigan USA on September 1st, 1963 to parents William Julius Heideman and beloved mother Betty Louise Todd (nee Stewart). 

The Heideman family moved to Georgetown, Ontario July 1, 1975 and Mark would call this town “home” for the rest of his life. That fall he started school at Centennial Middle School in grade 7 & graduated in June 1977. He also played hockey in the local weekend ranks for most of his school years plus most evenings were filled up after school road hockey. Mark went on to graduate from Georgetown District High School in 1981at 18.

Mark is survived by his mother Betty Todd (Brian Todd) of Burlington, Ontario, sister Patti Heideman (Herb Kewley) and brother Bobby Heideman (Amy Sykes) and uncle of Mason Sykes Heideman of Georgetown, Ontario. He was an amazing and truly beloved dog father to Huckleberry and the late Karma and also Whiskey. 

Predeceased by grandparents Tony and Orena Stewart of Lakeview, Michigan, Aunty Maxine and Uncle Smith Hammond of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Special friend to the late Jean Clark. 

Mark's big unforgettable smile and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He was one of the most loyal employees of Miller's Scottish Bakery for over 40 years. He was often seen walking around town with his white & black border collie with a blue frisbee. He lived a happy and content life devoted to his work, family, pets and friends. He had a love of the outdoors and traveled many a weekend all over Southern Ontario to ride his bicycle, see the sights and enjoy exploring a slower pace of life appreciating each day. He was always embracing the everyday life of people. Mark loved his close friends and was always quite enthusiastic making new friends from all walks of life. His respectful, gentle and kind compassion towards all people he met along the way will be forever cherished and remembered by all who knew him.

Special thanks to the OPP Highway Division for their thorough investigation, eco-Cremation & Burial Services Inc. for their execution of Mark's wishes and gratitude for the support from everyone during this difficult time of Mark’s sudden passing.

In honour of Mark's memory a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday April 14, 2024, at 1 pm, at the Georgetown Legion Branch 120 (127 Mill Street, Georgetown, Ontario) visitation with family and community until 3 pm, followed by a dog friendly walk at the Georgetown Fairgrounds track until 5 pm. 

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Upper Credit Humane Society, Trooper's Fund in the name of Mark’s beloved dog Karma & Mark Heideman. Please use the Donations tab on his home page.
