Anita Monteiro

Obituary of Anita Monteiro

Born in a small family to Edmund & Flossy Saldanha in Mangalore, India on January 8, 1954, Anita Monteiro was the youngest in the family with an elder brother Goldwyn Saldanha.

She lived most of her life in Bombay, India, where she met her better half, Christopher Monteiro. They dated for several years before getting married on December 23, 1978 and had three lovely children Mayur, Minal & Melissa. Unfortunately she lost her daughter Minal barely at the age of 2. Both Mayur and Melissa were a handful and were the joy of her life.

Anita was very artistic right from childhood. She pursued her skills by studying textile designing and took a career in fabric designing. A lot of her designs were chosen for export. One of her scenic ceramic painting was chosen by the Assistant Sheikh of Fujairah, UAE with special customizations.

Anita was known to be very caring, affectionate and loving. She always displayed a lot of patience and had a very friendly attitude towards everyone. She was also a good mentor to many youth and a great friend to her grandchild Amaira as well.

She passed away on September 1, 2017 but will always hold a special place in our hearts.
