What always struck me most about Romeo was his quiet dignity. He had so much to be angry about but even when he spoke about the raw deal life dealt him and those responsible for it, he seemed resigned more than furious, and accepting more than confrontational. Romeo was a dedicated member of AIDWYC and a sincere man who was not given much by life, but seemed to make the most of what he had.

To the family of Romeo Phillion, I send all my sympathies and I would like to mention that Romeo was a courageous person. He hat a warm and kind character, despite the fact of the injustice and mistreatment by the Canadian Justice system. I enjoyed the time I was talking with him and his unique spirit. Where he is today I hope he rests in peace and his name will be living on as many others will advocate for equality and justice in his name.
