Obituary of Robert Joseph Yvan Claude Couture

Robert passed away peacefully at his home on May 6th in Scarborough surrounded by family.  At 61 years, he was a devoted husband for 33 years to Michele (Bonhomme), a proud father to Jean-Marc and Joel (Stephanie), and loving grand-father to Briar.  He will be forever missed by his brother Serge (Sarah), and nieces Stephanie (Dave), Sherrie and Elijah, Nathan and Gabriella, his great nephews and great niece.  Son in law to Jean-Claude Bonhomme and brother in law to Francois (Nadine) and Jacques (Diane), he will be remembered as one of a kind.  “Uncle Rob was an amazing uncle” to Chloe, Brianna, Thea and Trinity.    

Robert especially lived for hugs and kisses from his only grand-daughter Briar, the light of his life.  He was so happy to have shared in the celebration of her first birthday.  He will be buried with a keepsake from Briar so a part of her can be with him always. 

He loved cars – driving them, fixing them or just talking about them.  Some of his favourite times are when his boys and their friends would come over and hang out or work on their cars in the driveway.  He was very social and loved to talk – young or old, it didn’t matter.  Talking shop, or about computers, movies, cars – you name it, he liked to chat.    

A proud man and always neatly dressed, he was a force to be reckoned with and touched many lives.  Loyal and devoted to his family, he will be tremendously missed.    

Please join us for a celebration of Robert’s life on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the eco Life Celebration Centre at Beach United Church, 140 Wineva Ave, Toronto. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the church, and throughout the adjoining streets.  Friends are welcome to visit from 10 a.m., followed by a service in celebration of his life with a Funeral Liturgy without Mass at 11:15 am.  A procession to the cemetery at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery (7770 Steeles Ave E, Markham, ON), where Robert wanted to be buried will follow.  Anyone wishing to say goodbye at the grave is welcome to join us at the cemetery.    All are welcome.
