Dear Jennifer and Michael,
I just found out today that your mom passed away. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a kind and generous person, and such a comforting presence and friend to my mom. She also really went out of her way to make sure Mark, Michael and I were okay when we moved back to Canada. She will always be remembered.

Barbara and I were close friends in Oshawa and lived one block apart on Masson Street. I was one year behind in school, but we went together to Girl Guides, and Young People's at St. Andrew's United Church. She would say, "Meet me at the corner and don't be late!" Her mother Lillian and my mother Mary Black were close friends, and her father Dr. Watt taught my brother and I how to dance so we could go to the dances at OCVI. She had a lovely place at Briton House and I played the piano for her one day and she liked the memory of our younger days when I played. I send my sincere condolences to all of Barbara's family. Her friendship has always been and will always be in my heart.

Remembering our childhood in Oshawa and a lot of fun with the Watt family, learning to dance in their rec room, going to Guides, painting the cottage at Balsam Lake, the terrible blow when Gord was killed. She is someone to celebrate, generous and a good friend. I am planning to be among the friends in North Bay in October 12.

Barbara was such a good friend. We met when we were 12, shortly after the Watts moved to Oshawa. And then we were in the same form in Grade 9 at OCVI, and continued to be in the same form all through High School. Although living far apart we kept in touch and the OCVI Girls have lots of happy memories of our get-togethers every spring and fall. Although we could not wish her still here we will miss her dearly.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the family will gather at Nipissing Union Cemetery in the morning and then meet friends and family for a drop-in celebration of mom's life at Cecil's Brewhouse + Kitchen (the "Map Room") in downtown North Bay from noon to 3 p.m.

Barbara was a dear friend. We worked together at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. Beyond that, she was fun and a great listener....one of those special friends.
Lately, I have thought so much about our happy times together! As we worked side by side, I saw the happy relationship grow between Barbara and Harry! Those were exciting times!
I will miss you dear friend but you are now at peace and for that, I am grateful.
