Talking with Bob
I remember having great conversations with Bob that would go all over the map and far back into long ago with many surprising overlaps in our lives and always fuelled by Bob's natural curiosity and his moral and philosophical streak.
A blessing to have known him.

So clear in my mind
Bob is so clear in my mind, through two wonderful images: the first when Val and Bob were at our farm in Lanark. I can see Bob, a substantial, warm, intelligent, charming man speaking animatedly as we stood on our deck in the wilderness. And then later when we visited in Lauderbach, Bob speaking a little more quietly then as he began his journey into ill health: surrounded by books, still vital, caring, Val's dear, dear partner and our friend. He was deeply loved and will be missed by so many.

I met Bob when I was a new member of Toronto City Council in the 1990's with a great interest in housing. By chance would meet him on the streetcar when we were both on our way to City Hall in the morning. He would fill me in on the sometimes exotic politics of housing at the City while I tried to figure out how to get things done. He had been around and was very patient with my, "You have got to be kidding me!" as I responded to his advice. He was kind and generous, my memories are very warm of our time together.

Bob
I first met Bob in 2002, through Rachel, one of my oldest friends. I was getting married and wanted a secular service, but with spirit. She said she knew just the person.
Bob performed a lovely ceremony, guiding us through the decision making process, and when it was done, he changed out of his frock and into a kilt with black tie. He cut a dashing image, and he made the wedding ceremony and reception one to remember. I will miss him.
