I'm so sorry to hear about Gary's untimely passing. He was great guy! I have many fond memories of shared fun times.
Gary And I and the rest of our motley crew taught at Essex about 40 years ago.
We would often unwind after a hard day's work at the neighborhood pub where we'd have a couple of beers and trade stories
and jokes.
Gary and I had a double spare after lunch every week. If we weren't running "personal errands," we'd spend our open periods playing euchre in the staff room. At least once a month, during the racing season we'd use our spare periods to drive up to Woodbine race track place a couple of bets and drive back just in time for our 2:00 class. We had it down to a science until the day we got a flat on the way back to school. We were late for class that day but managed to explain our way out of it.
You see our principal who was a bit of a push-over was also a friend of ours and part of our group. That day we regaled everyone with our escapade at the Clinton Tavern after school.

I never actually met Gary but had many fun conversations with him when I would call Nancy. His nick name for me was Whalin Jennings. He had a great sense of humor and as a teacher myself we had a lot in common. You will be missed greatly. My deepest sympathy to Nancy and his family.

I will always remember the week after my wedding. When everyone went back home but Gary and Nancy stayed the extra week with us. Late nights and plenty of drinks and laughs. You always had a story to tell and many adventures. You will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I have such wonderful memories of being a child and going to Toronto to see Aunt Mabel and Uncle Peter. Gary always had a huge smile for us and made our time special. Sometimes we don't realize this - that many look back and smile because someone made them smile. Rest in peace Gary.

It is with great sadness and heartbreak that I mourn the passing of my beloved Gary. For 38 years, we shared so much love, support, comfort and laughter.We often reminisced about things we'd done in the past, places we'd gone, and new friends we made. I know I will remember these times with a smile. Thank you to all friends and family who have been there for me at this difficult time.
