Obituary of Augusto Basombrio

Grandpa was born in 1915 to parents that loved him. He came from humble beginnings and had 9 brothers and sisters. Both of his parents were hard working people that did their best to provide for all their children.

He came from a family that enjoyed music, dancing, singing and cooking. His parents passed on those influences to all the children. His father liked playing the guitar and his mother taught the kids how to cook. He would always tell us how our great grandmother would make his brothers and sisters take turns every week and cook for the family.

That’s how my grandfather learned how to cook so well. It was simple but he never failed when you tasted his food. He did it with love.

Family was important to him and he enjoyed being around the all of us. He was wise and smart with a lot of information. He enjoyed talking, laughing and just having a good conversation. Even though, he did not speak English much, he still found a way to communicate with others.

He had so many stories about his life growing up and they were all interesting and sometimes really funny, you just had to laugh!

Grandpa was a strong man; it wasn’t that long ago that he was living independently and doing things that you and I could do. Such as shopping, cooking and even doing his own laundry. We were all so proud of him for being such a physically strong man at his age.

He was full of life and he would always have a smile on his face.

We will miss you immensely abuelito!

We love you, may you rest in peace.
