Obituary of Alec Fernandes
Alec Fernandes, beloved husband of the late Mercy Fernandes, and loving father of Jude (Allison), Karen (Neil), and Lisel (Warren), passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23. Alec was the brother of the late Brazil, the late Michael, Monica and Georgina, and loving grandfather of Arden, Nicole, Janelle, Jonathan, Stefan, Tristan, Noah, Joybelle, and Aaron.
Alec started his career at Indokem where he spent most of his working life of 35 years as a Warehouse Manager.
After retiring from Indokem, Alec spent his time undertaking building maintenance and construction, and got actively involved with the Church back in Bandra, Mumbai where he assisted with St Roque Association, the St. Andrews church collections and spending time with his fellow parishioners,
He had many hobbies: fishing and singing were two he was most passionate about. He leaves his family and friends with indelible memories of him singing his favourites: “What a Wonderful World” and “Chattanooga Shoeshine Boy”. He was an avid reader and orator. He loved parties, he took great joy in reciting jokes, and had games ready to be played.
In recent years Alec and Mercy had moved to Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Alec’s smile and vibrant personality will always be missed.
In his life, Alec was loved profoundly. While he is now gone into the light, he will remain in our hearts and minds through the memories of his family and friends. Thank you to everyone for your wishes, prayers and keeping us in your thoughts.
Please join in celebrating the life of Alec with a Funeral Mass on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Parish (6890 Glen Erin Drive, Mississauga).
Cremation will follow.
