Dear Trevor, Ian and Tom,
I was saddened to learn of Martha's death. She was, without a doubt, a very gracious, conscientious and loving friend. Working and socializing with her was a delight. She loved you all and doted on Winston and Carolina. She will be sorely missed.
May good and happy memories of her bring you comfort; and may her memory be everlasting.

I miss Martha. Willing to adventure but always a lady.
We knew one another since 1967 when we met in the University of Wisconsin Social work school. We both worked for the Mendota State Hospital and one of her favorite stories of our adventures were our taking 2 young chronically mentally ill women for an overnight visit to their
communities in northern Wisconsin. There were often giggles from us because our ladies had not been in the community for years and we were the focus attention in restaurants for reasons you can imagine.
We were newly married and we were all friends
Our toddlers bathed together while we fixed dinners.
We stayed connected after she moved to England and the Philippines. She loved her work and took training in England to further her skills as a therapist. She always built a community around her and found work in her beloved field. In the Philippines she was part of expat therapists who provided services to the community. Martha loved different cultures and was known to collect jackets made in native cottons.
Martha missed the United States and her extended family and finally returned. Both her need to be in the states and to travel were met by living here and working for AID. Exotic places were on her itinerary: Yemen, Afghanistan, Africa.
Martha and I spent a lot of time together over a cup of tea or a glass of wine discussing our lives. We were lucky to be able to share so much of our own personal development and our life experiences.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and friend. She loved her work and she was good at it. She considered herself lucky to have had such a rich life.

We are so saddened to hear of Martha’s passing. She was a compassionate, caring soul, who worked with a generation of USAID employees around the world, and helped us navigate our professional and family lives so we could do our jobs better. I had the good fortune of working with Martha in HR and will always remember how her dedication and professionalism made her loved and respected by all. Rest In Peace, Martha. You made this world a better place.

I am deeply saddened at the passing of Martha. I considered her a true friend while working at USAID. She cared about the people as well as the mission but the people came first. An angel has gained her wings today. My condolences to her family, she will be missed.

My deepest condolence to the family and friends. Martha is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, not only outside but inside. She is kind and sweet, always saying thank you, I love you and sorry. I enjoyed all the moments of being with her and taking care of her. Martha’s death makes my heart sad but I know she is in a good place now. I love you, Martha, may you rest in peace.
