I remember the first day i met Elaine at work. She was the sweetest lady and we connected right away. That year, is was the first time she brought in some Jams that she had made for us. I took them home and immediately made some toast for my husband and I with the “Carrot Cake” jam flavour. Both my husband and I just looked at each-other like we just ate liquid gold!
My husband then said to me “I don’t care what you have to do.. but you need to get way more of this.. tell Elaine we will pay her whatever she wants .. we will give her a monthly payment if we have to, to keep them coming.”
The next day when i told Elaine this, she laughed so hard and said it was one of the fav’s and she only had so many to give out.. but like the wonderful, sweet woman she was.. by the next day she had a whole bunch for me to take home.
I will miss her dearly.
My condolences to the whole family, and may i add, the service was really beautiful everyone did a great job, especially Emma Rose singing- how sweet was she!

My deepest condolences on your dear Mom’s passing. She was such a sweet and wonderful woman and so strong. My prayers are with you. I first met Elaine when Kim moved in to the unit right beside us. Elaine was always very pleasant, kind, and friendly. Once we started talking gardening, cooking, baking, canning and of course rhubarb our friendship grew fast. Elaine was a strong, giving person but determined at the same time.
Over the last year I have been honoured to call Elaine a friend and I have come to like Elaine as a family member. Her passing has touched me deeply and I will miss her alot.
Kim, Shannon, and your families, I know you will miss her greatly but know that I will be here if you need me.

I was honoured to make Elaine a friend in the last year of her life. Rather than wish it had happened sooner, I choose gratitude that it happened at all. I have a jar of her strawberry rhubarb jam to enjoy at Christmas and recipes she shared that will last me for years. A lovely lady who will be missed.
