Obituary of Ronald Michael Archibald MacAskill

MacAskill, Ronald “Ron” 1950 – 2022.  His life was well lived and he was well loved! Ron left on his own terms when he knew it was finally ok. He passed with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, December 07, 2022 in his 72nd year.

This gentle, loving, caring, fun and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend of 45 years Alice (Norton) and his children Rawnda (Jeff), Rosey (Tony), Thomas and Jamie (Krystal).

Family was the pivotal essence of Ron’s life. He was proud and honoured to be the patriarch, father and grandfather to our large family. He has been a major presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

He was a proud and cherished his role of grandfather to Laura (Kyle), Emilee (Claudiu), Victoria, Kyle, Noah, Olivia and Lyla.

Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia and traveling across Canada and finally settling in Mississauga, Ron spent his life as a hardworking, dedicated and loving man.

He was predeceased by his parents Laura and Alex, his brothers Tommy and George, sister Donna, sisters-in-law Peggy and Rose and Brother-in-law, Carl. He is survived by his loving Sisters Sadie and Francie, brother Robbie, brothers-in-law Ross, Les, and Winston(Karen),sisters-in-law Mary and Marwayne and cousins Lillian(Ben), Marlene and Phyllis who were near and dear to him.

He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank all the health care professionals from Trillium Hospital and Moirs Critical Care Center for their care over the last 4 years of his life and are sincerely grateful to the few wonderful staff who comforted and cared for him in his last days.

Ron will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle big blue eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love.  Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is no longer suffering and in heaven watching over us ♥
