Ian was on staff when I arrived at Hillcrest P.S.. He welcomed me as the newcomer and would often offer his support to smooth the transition to a new work environment. We worked collaboratively throughout the years when Ian was our librarian : team teaching various topics . After school a group of us would enjoy dinners out and socializing at each others’ homes… good food and laughter shared kept our spirits up .
Ian will be remembered by all for his thoughtfulness; sense of humour; dedication to teaching; intelligence; compassion for others and his sense of fun.
The world has lost a generous kind soul . A remarkable man who enriched the lives of so many in his lifetime .
He will be missed.
My thoughts are with his family.
Catherine

My Sympathies to the Campbell family on the loss of your brother.I did not know Ian as he was youngerthan me.I do know Pat and Mac as we went to the same church in Brampton.I also went to school with Don Lavery,Fred Giles and played on the basketball team with Wayne in Orangeville.I also think I went to your father as my dentist. It always hurts when you lose a member of your family so I too know the pain you are going through. May God comfort you at this time. Sincerly Bob and Sue Hogarth

I had the pleasure of working with Ian for many years at Hillcrest School. He was a popular teacher with both staff and students. Ian was calm, cool and collected and had a keen sense of humour that was greatly appreciated. Whether planning a lesson, celebrating someone’s birthday or walking the picket lines, Ian was always up for anything and fun to be with.
My condolences to all who loved him. I will cherish my memories.

Ian was a loving, caring and supportive brother to all of us. He saw the positive in everyone. He loved to have fun and loved to laugh. He cared deeply about the underdog and cared about justice for all. It really didn’t matter your age. Ian could relate to the very young and old. He made your visits with him special. Right from a very young age Jesus was his best friend. He was a confidant and he is “love”
I know now that you are at peace and for that I’m thankful. You will be missed until we meet again dear brother Ian

I met Ian many years ago while teaching at Hillcrest school. We organized ski trips for the students and accompanied them on educational trips to Stratford, Ottawa and Quebec City. We developed a close friendship and over the years regularly enjoyed many social activities, dinners and bbqs.
Ian was a man of great Christian faith.I always admired how he put his faith into action. He was constantly looking out for friends and neighbours in need and helping out in any way possible.
Ian will be greatly missed by so many.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Ian. I met him at All Saints Kingsway at the Thursday morning services. He kindly took one of our parishioners that lived across the hall from him to the service often while he lived in the building and kept in touch with her after he moved. He was a kind and caring man who will be remembered fondly by many. My sincere condolences to Ian's family.
