Obituary of Diane June Romagnoli (née Peacock)

June 30th, 1947 - September 21st, 2023

Just as the summer season changes into the new season of autumn, Diane has entered her new season. Our family is saddened to share the announcement of her death in the early morning of Thursday, September 21, 2023, in the presence of her daughter Lindsey and her beloved guardian and protector, Lexi.

Diane was born in St. Catharines on June 30, 1947 as the only child to the late George Murray and Catherine Margaret (née Mayville) Peacock.

After attending the Collegiate and Denis Morris High Schools she became employed with CAA Niagara where she remained for over 30 years.

Diane married W. Gary B. Romagnoli on December 4, 1971 and together they became parents of Christopher Jordin and then twins; Nathan Daniel and Lindsey Catherine Margaret Romagnoli.

After a devastating diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1990, Diane endured the next 33 years challenged by her health.

She was blessed with support and love from her husband Gary for over 51 years of marriage, her sons Christopher (Chantel), Nathan Romagnoli and her daughter Lindsey Romagnoli and her grandchildren Aydan, Fynn and Rhys Romagnoli and Emma Townsend.

She maintained remarkable long-term and loyal friendships with dear friends Joy Howe, Mary Mooradian, Pat Rotz and Linda Paterson; some for 73 + years.

She’ll also be remembered by many cousins near and afar and the broader Romagnoli family.

Diane had an amazing smile, captivating eyes, a remarkable laugh, a deep love for dogs and the summer sunshine, among other things. We are grateful that she had opportunity to make memories in many sunny destinations before her illness prevented her from the daily joys that most take for granted.

It is our hope that she will finally rest in unencumbered beauty among those who have predeceased her, especially her dear mother Margaret whom she missed ever-so-much.

In keeping with Diane's love and comfort of her own home, we invite you to visit with us in her home (24 Mississauga Road, St. Catharines) on Thursday, September 28th from 1 until 3 p.m. and 6 until 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 29th from 1 until 3 p.m. and 6 until 9 p.m. Please park on the surrounding streets.

Vigil Prayers will be said on Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a brief Indigenous Healing and Honour Ceremony.

Diane's Funeral Mass to bestow the completion of her Baptismal blessings will be held on Saturday, September 30th at St. Vincent de Paul Parish (73 Picton Street at Wellington Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake) at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. A reception will follow with details to be announced.
