Obituary of Morrigan Marie Acton Beaulieu
Morrigan always cut against the grain and wanted to express herself her way. She didn’t want to be defined by the expectations of others, and she strove to be independent and walk to the beat of her own drum. She could be defiant and rebellious, and loved to create and to give. She was often over the top and flamboyant, but also painfully shy. Once she got to know people, she could talk non-stop and let out her silly side.
As a child, she had a brief interest in Barbies, but mostly sharks and dinosaurs (especially T.Rex and Troodon). Instead of pink, she loved the colour green.
She grew up surrounded by friends and neighbours on a tight-knit street, where fireworks, water fights and street parties were regular occurrences. There were so many long days spent playing with friends in the backyard, in neighbourhood parks and pools and at the beach.
Being outside made her so happy – riding her bike and her scooter, playing baseball and soccer, and just hanging out with her friends and brother. Every year at the cottage, she would spend hours swimming, playing in the water and chasing frogs. And she loved flowers and animals – especially her Oscar.
School was not always her favourite, but she loved playing sports, and doing art and socializing with her friends.
Once she started middle school, she struggled with mental health, and these struggles grew as she experienced several traumas. Over the next few years, she experienced more than others experience in a lifetime. These struggles overtook her at times – body and soul, but she never wanted them to define her. One thing that brought her solace was her art.
There were still times when she was happy and showed that care-free, independent spirit. Morrigan was incredibly creative and talented and used her art to express herself and control her anxiety. She started skateboarding during the Pandemic and explored the city.
In the end, we want people to remember Morrigan for the beautiful soul she had. She loved flowers, her family and loved to laugh. She could be goofy and loved doing face masks with Mom, going for drives with Daddy. Remember her smile and her laugher. Speak her name out loud because she no longer can and keep her memory alive in your hearts.
"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before."
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
A quote from the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.
