Marlene Mary Libbus

Marlene passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 18, 2023 at Bridgepoint Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.

Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Marlene was the daughter of Sylvia and Jeff Libbus. Sister to Jenny MacEachern, Joanne Chisholm and Harriet Libbus. Marlene has three children, two sons, Jeff Shannon, grandsons, Liam and Quin / Glenn Shannon, grandsons, Andrew and Mathew, great granddaughter, Albalone Buttercup / and daughter, Tracy Shannon.

Marlene attended Holy Angels and Riverview High School and graduated from Cape Breton University (CBU) in 1986 and continued her studies in Toronto, Ontario. She taught over the radio with Wahsa Distance Education in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Marlene finished her career teaching at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta. She retired to Toronto, Ontario in 2005 with her best friend of 40 years, Charles James Tupper.

Marlene’s interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her Mother and Father. A celebration of life ceremony will be announced for summer 2024.
