Obituary of Judith Feeney

Our family is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Judith Elaine Feeney on November 19th, 2023 at the age of 79.

Judy was born in Halifax on October 16th, 1944. She lived her childhood years in Montreal with her mother Barbara Read and her sister Barbie. Judy had a particularly special relationship with her sister Barbie, brother-in-law Cecil, and her niece Sharon and nephew Alan.

She met her beloved husband Michael Feeney through their good friends Wilma and D’Arcy O’Connell. Ever since their meeting, as Wilma shared, ‘it was Mike & Judy’ from then on. Judy & Mike married on August 21st, 1965, at St. Patrick Cathedral in Montreal and shared 58 beautiful years together, loving and laughing.

Judy went to teacher’s college in Montreal and then taught elementary school for a few years before moving to Kitchener and then Scarborough where their 3 children were born; Chris, Lisa and Elaine.

In 1975 we moved to Ajax where she continued to build a thriving community and life. Judy was active in education, serving as PTA president, a supply teacher, a Trustee on the Durham Catholic school board and also working at the Town of Ajax.

Judy’s grandchildren: Julien, Josh and Jenny spent many hours learning and being loved by their Gran. Time spent with her grandchildren she cherished immensely.

Judy found joy in many activities: family and group camping trips, golfing, photography, tennis, learning stained-glass, cooking classes, Dart-Club picnics (a big shout out to our Dart Club Family!), The Probus Club. There were many babies wrapped in the blankets, hats and sweaters carefully crafted by our mom.

The common thread that ran through Judy’s life was the relationships she cultivated and nourished. Her friends meant the world to her!

Judy was a force in our lives; a warm laugh, an ear to listen, a piece of wisdom easefully shared and always a hug to embrace. The emptiness we feel without Judy’s presence in our lives is cavernous, but the ways in which she touched us all will remain forever in our hearts.

We invite you to join Judy’s Celebration of Life at the Hilton Garden Inn, Ajax on Saturday January 6th, 2024 from 5pm-7pm.

Please RSVP to Lisa Feeney lisa.feeney@hotmail.com by December 30th to advise if you plan to attend.

We also ask, if you have any COVID symptoms please refrain from attending.

We’d welcome your sharing a favourite photo, story, or sentiment of Judy’s life here at her memorial legacy page. Hearing your memories and stories is heart-warming to us during this time.
