I last saw your Dad in 1973 in Pierrefonds when Neil and I flew over for a holiday to Montreal after graduating from University in the UK. I always enjoyed being around your Mom and Dad. Always such fun. We had a lovely holiday in Maine with you all when Antony was a baby. I always thought your dad was so handsome and reminded me of Roger Moore the film star. Of course the close friendship between both of our fathers when they would go swimming every Sunday morning and then back to our house for a full English breakfast. He was smart, creative and I thought charming. I had no idea that he played the violin nor that he obviously had a lovely singing voice and was so musically inclined. I wish I had of had an opportunity to reconnect with him as an adult.

My late husband Henry and Ed became great friends over the years. Henry was also into package design and it was Ed who introduced Henry to Hong Kong and China and his various contacts in those countries. They traveled many times to Hong Kong and Henry always came back with amusing stories often involving Ed and their business associates there! Their conversations over the phone were always lengthy and filled with laughter! Ed reached out a number of times after Henry's passing and we chatted about times gone by. My condolences to the the Mayled family on the loss of their dad and granddad.

"What a larger than life man, my dad John Mayled looked up to his older brother they had a sence of humour they can only understand, always laughing and taking the michael, Very proud to have been a marine and told everyone we ever met, Edward was always complaining about heated toilet seats and why every time he came to visit we hadnt had one installed, always looking for discount when we went shopping, my dad and Edward used to send cassettes to each other i could hear my dad laughing for hours making and listening to each others gifts, sadly my dad died early in life leaving 4 children, but i look back and smile about the good times , sadly missed Edward was a gent , God Bless "

Grandad, as I knew him, was a man of quick wit and sharp humour. Always prepared, his time as a Royal Marine was reflected in his personality and he wasn't shy to remind you of his service. He was a man with a plan, even in his later years he always had a sense of purpose that moved him forward through life.
A provider and a protector to the end, he always wanted to "come bearing gifts." He had a way of finding the best deals going and I'm grateful that he was willing to share some of his "secret spots" with me. I will miss our breakfasts and lunches together where we would reminisce and converse about all that was wrong with the world.
He was always willing to offer advice on any issue I brought to him. Some of it good, some of it worth nodding along to. I will remember our conversations fondly, though.
Rest easy Grandad, your watch is over.

I knew 'Uncle' Ed my whole life. He was my dad's best friend since before I was born. He was always so funny and blunt, and I will really miss his gritty sense of humor.
I'll never forget that when I was going to England in the early 90s he generously paid me to do some computer work for him, and he also gave me a cash gift at the airport when he came to see me off. I know he was also generous with other people, and I think that is a great quality that he had.
Graham, my father, has Alzheimer's disease and is not able to write anything here, but I think he would say that Ed was a wonderful friend and they shared so many good times together that he is grateful for
We are really going to miss you Uncle Ed!
