Michael a dear cousin, little brother of Karen who is the same age as me. I have such fond memories of Michael during our family dinners at John and Barb's, typically on boxing day. The other Ottawa Murray clan, Doug, Monique and the 3 girls would head over to Hemlock road for one of uncle Johns famous roast beef dinners... Michael was the fun and cute little cousin who loved to chat with us even very young, always curious and genuinely interested about what was going in our lives... and he did exactly that when I last saw him in the hospital. True to character a wonderful man!!!

Like many, Michael was an online friend. Our paths never crossed in person, at least I think. We both shared a huge number of mutual friends, many from Ottawa where I also lived. Through Facebook and his written posts at Galaxy Brain I believe I came to know Michael. He was such a an amazing writer and he revealed the beauty of who he was through his intimate work. His endless love and devotion to his family was so evident, particularly near the end. Michael was so encouraging to everyone. He was our fearless leader cheering us on in the New Yorker Caption contest. Days before he passed, I was so happy to share with Michael that, thanks to him, I had also won the caption contest. Bringing a little victory to his unique facebook community. To Rachel and Jones. Please accept my deepest sympathy for this immeasurable loss. I know one day I will meet Michael "face to face" and thank him for his gifts and the difference he made to so many people. Rest Peacefully Michael
