My dear Becky,
I would have liked to be able to celebrate Ann's life with you today. You are both so dear to me...
Ann was such a great woman with a big heart, and always in an infectious good mood. She left a trail of caring and positive spirit behind her at all times. This is still the case now: Ann will leave an imprint on our lives that cannot be erased.
Ann and you have set such a great example of how patience, resilience and perserverance can make the value and beauty of love shine and reverberate, no matter what! I feel privileged to have crossed your path and to have been able to raise my daughters around such a wonderful couple. As Geneviève told you at Ann's funeral, growing up she looked up to you and Ann hoping to become a strong and courageous woman like you.
May this celebration of Ann's life bring you closure, and give you the strength and courage to go through this difficult passage of life with serenity, looking at the future with hope.
My kindest condolences to you and to your family,
Any

Please accept condolences from my sister Ruth and myself on the passing of Ann Manuel.
We both attended Loretto College on Brunswick Ave. from Grades 9-13 - graduating in 1972 and in 1976.
Sister Ann - as we knew her then and earlier as Sister Mary John - was a model to us then and in the years since of moral strength, honesty and quiet wit - but most of all, of integrity.
You could not put one past her - nor did you want to.
We have never forgotten her.
Ruth and Anne Hanley

So very saddened to hear the news of Ann Manuel’s death. Growing older/wiser, working in education, I can’t recall the number of times I looked back on our (myself and 4 sisters) high school years at Loretto in the 70’s and thought of our great good fortune to have had Ann Manuel as our Principal.
A model of wisdom and integrity, intelligence and strength, kindness and compassion for all. An educator for the mind, heart and soul. She facilitated through a great staff our awareness of social justice, adventure, and intellectual discipline.
Brilliant female leadership for 5 chronically ‘late’ Irish sisters!
A hero in our household. Forever grateful.
Sending condolences to Becky and all her family and friends at your great loss. A life so well lived captured so beautifully here.
May she rest peacefully. Una Kilkenny ‘77

I went to Loretto Brunswick from grade 9-13.
(Sr) Ann was our principal. She was firm but kind.
I have really good memories with Ann Manuel.
I wish I got a chance to see her before she passed.
Eternal rest grant unto Ann O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon her
May her soul through the mercy of God,
Rest in peace. Amen

I was so sorry to hear of Ann's passing. My sincere condolences. She was my principal at Loretto College from 1971-1976 and helped to make my 5 years at Loretto fun and memorable. I remember when I first came to Loretto in grade nine, being so impressed that Sister Mary John, as I knew her then, remembered my name after only a couple of weeks. She was a wonderful principal and role model. I am grateful for the opportunity to share the pleasure of my having known her.

Dear Becky, My sympathy in the passing of Ann.
I have been remembering the side-trip we three took to St. Stephen one year when you and Ann were here in Fredericton at a Conference.
It was a bit of an adventure and I was so glad we could make that rip happen!
Blessings on you, Becky, today and in the days ahead.
Sincerely, Eleanor, cnd

I had the great honor of being a student at LCS while Ann was principal. She ingrained in her girls that they could become whatever they desired. I owe her my gratitude for making me believe I could achieve my dreams. I have always spoken of how “cool” she was because she allowed us to express ourselves despite being in a Catholic school. She taught us tolerance and respect and she will be greatly missed for her contribution to LCS and the world.

To the family of Ann, my condolences on your loss. I am a former student of LSC and had the privilege of having Ann as my principal. Being kids of immigrant parents, Ann understood our challenges. She made us believe that we could do anything and be anyone we wanted to be. As a result, my Loretto sisters went on to become chemical engineers, professors, optometrists, school administrators, entrepreneurs, lawyers and teachers. Even after she retired, she was always available for an encouraging call. She had a great sense of humour, which we learned about after our first of many pranks on the teachers. She never ratted us out and shared a good laugh. Her smile is what I remember best. But she was no softie. She held us to a very high standard. I remember in grade 13 skipping religion class to hang out in our lounge. She walked in and, without raising her voice, expressed her views on our conduct. We were horrified. Not because we skipped religion but because she was disappointed in us. I would have preferred a detention. She taught us the importance of "community". I am forever grateful that Ann was part of my community. May she rest in peace with the knowledge that she left behind a legacy of sisters who continue to love, support and encourage each other. Nancy

Dear Becky, I wish to convey to you and all of your dear ones my deepest sympathy. I remember first coming to know Ann at a lunch we shared in a group just before the opening of the CNWE Conference in Saskatoon (I believe that was in 2004). From a distance, I knew of her great work collecting and supplying furniture to those in need. Also, one of my treasures in knowing her was meeting and coming to know you. May you be blessed now as you mourn the loss of Ann.
