My relationship with Ann started almost 50 years ago with her being a mentor while working at the Clarke Institute together. After I left she was my therapist (Voice Dialogue and NLP) and then friend. She helped me heal my relationship with my father which completely changed my life. I have sung Happy Birthday to her over the phone every year for 25 years. I will miss making this call on January 5 of 2025.

I was 12 when I met Ann. Gillian took me home and opened the fridge to show me her dad’s locked strongbox in which he kept his cookies, while Michelle the Demon Cat circled the kitchen table howling. A very tall white lady with a very serious face walked in and honestly, she scared the poop out of me. I would go on to learn of her profound decency, her quirky ways and sly sense of humour infused always with kindness and a keen sense of justice. Ann quietly watched out for me when few others did: it made a critical difference in my life, and I’m sure I wasn’t the only stray kid she did this for. A good woman, a good life, much to celebrate.

Deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved mother and grandmother. Ann was a part of my professional life since the beginning many years ago. May her memory be a blessing to the family.

I always looked forward to my next conversation with Ann. She was deeply interested in people and full of enthusiasm for life. When she was not able to get out into the world, she brought the world into her home: storytelling concerts, music, poetry, art! She even planned to share her home with a refugee family. She was an inspiration. She will be greatly missed.

So many close memories over 50 years: a beloved life lived in such wonder, adventure and curiosity! How deeply we loved her; how joyously she loved us!

"To thine own selves be true" read the sign over Ann's basement room. Ann honored all of her selves in a life full of wisdom, wonder and whimsy as she helped others find their own. A pioneering career blossomed from her true interest in the human heart and how we make our way in the world. Academics and spirituality blended in this quest, cultural and religious wisdom was honored during her life. And apparently Green Tara got her, Sven and their friends safely across the Atlantic. Music, art and the spoken word were central.
I enjoyed being the technical nerd explaining (and learning) wonderful things - rainbows - the progress of the full moon through the seasons - solar eclipse - caterpillar's molecules reassembling to make a butterfly - very recently, the smoky taste of Texas barbecue.
Her joyous child self was very much alive, beautifully remembered here in Soozi's poem. One of my favourite images is Ann joyously do-si-do-ing through the bicycle racks on Queens Quay after a trip to the Toronto islands. "Swing your walker round and round !".
Ann cared very deeply about people. She was a true friend of mine and a blessing in my life. This will continue to be so.

Remembering with gratitude many enriching afternoons of story-telling in Ann's special Story Room, followed by conversation and cookies with our gracious hostess whose informal stories were always adventurous and insightful.

I am away in Europe until Oct. 5th. Otherwise, I would be there in person in a heartbeat.
My heartfelt condolences to Ann's family and friends.
Ann was dear and important to me, a wonderful person and kindred spirit. We took various trainings, including Voice Dialogue, together in the late 1980's and bonded immediately despite our age difference.
We took turns facilitating each other's Voice Dialogue process, and I became familiar with her inner psycho-spiritual parts as she did mine. It was a beautiful, meaningful time.
Years later, I attended Ann's 75th(?) birthday party in Toronto. Years later again, Ann took a long bus ride from Toronto to Owen Sound to visit our country homestead to catch up on each other's lives. We talked about her transition. I shall indeed pray for her as we discussed then, many moons ago.
Love Har-Prakash

Ann was an integral part of my life for more than 20 years. When I think of her, I think of the saying, "Be a blessing in someone's life", she achieved this goal with flying colours. She showed me what a true healer speaks like and feels like energetically. I attribute many of the abilities I have, as a therapist, as a result of her guidance, healing and wisdom. My condolences to her family and friends. She was quite loved by many.

We watched a double rainbow
Your arm around my shoulder
You my senior of 20 years
but I the one much older
Warning you to put on your shoes
You walking barefoot on bramble paths
‘Its ok, Mother, I am a grown up now’
And you would laugh and I would scowl
and you would laugh
And you throw yourself on Donnie’s couch
Jeans rolled up to the knees
dirty feet from river mud
my 90 year old
old lady teen
And we cut the watermelon like a bowl
digging in with dripping spoons
And you sleep all night in the hammock
to be closer to the moon
And you told me earlier this week
that you were not afraid to die
that you were really interested
in what you just might find
Like maybe a double rainbow
Waiting on the other side
