Obituary of Philip Blake Unrau
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Philip Blake Unrau of Toronto, On. on October 15, 2024 at the age of 73.
Philip peacefully died in his sleep at Saint Michaels Hospital.
Before retirement, Philip worked at The Neighbourhood Group and also volunteered at The Donwood Institute.
Philip loved life and will be deeply missed by so many that he shared his life with through generosity, wit and love.
His passions for life included baking, art, music, reading and writing and was an inspiration to all that knew him.
He loved travelling, visiting Europe several times and going south to keep warm from the cold winters and even went skydiving a couple of times in his 60s.
He would drive down the highway singing along with the radio without realizing he was well over the speed limit and sighed a relief for not getting caught.
Thank you so much to all the doctors and staff at Saint Michael’s Hospital and to his personal doctor, Dr. Merkley and staff.
In lieu of flowers Philip would love donations to The Donwood Institute and The Neighbourhood Group via the Donations tab on his home page. These causes were dear to Philip's heart.
Philip did it ‘His Way’ and requested no big hurrah.
Philip has been interred at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines Ont.
Thank you to all his surviving family, friends, neighbours for being there throughout the years with Philip.
Please share a memory, photo or sentiment of Philip’s life on his memorial legacy page.
Philip will remain in our hearts, thoughts and prayers forever.
