Obituary of Keith Shrouder

NOTICE:

Keith Shrouder was a man of few words.

And, he was happiest when engaging with people about their lives, hopes, dreams and plans.

He was an unofficial mentor to many, as well as a financial supporter of the education of many children and youth in Jamaica.

Keith was a chartered accountant and was the Chief Financial Officer of Sealy Canada when he retired - likely one of the first Black c-suite executives in Canada.

He also spent many years as a church organist where he was responsible for spectacular Christmas and Easter Cantatas. Music was his form of praising God.

Keith single handedly made it possible for 4 of his 5 siblings to come to Canada: he sponsored them all.

Keith was born to Hilda Brown and Roderick Shrouder in Kingston, Jamaica on September 17, 1937. The 3rd of his parents’ 5 children (and his mother’s 4th child).

Keith immigrated to Montreal in 1962 and moved to Ontario in 1983.

Brother to Elaine, Rupert, Hyacinthe, Corine and Sheila. Loving husband of Heide; father of Annemarie, Rudolf and Shacqier: doting grandfather of Maia.

Keith passed away peacefully in Toronto on November 10th, 2024 surrounded by family.
