Hello.
I am one of JJ's nieces. I'm 14 years old now and he passed when I was 8 years old. 6 years without him has been 6 years too long.
I remember what he was like quite vividly. I have many specific memories of him that I can see almost like a video in my mind. He was one of the most kind, gentle, funny, caring and adventurous people I've ever met.
I remember when he was in the hospital his daughter Annabelle and I painted pictures and brought paper covered in stickers to him, thinking we were the best artists in the world.
JJ used to play games with me and there was one time I made him be 'Fairy Queen' and I have him a crown and I think somewhere I still have a picture.
I hope one day I can tell all of the stories of him to Annabelle and Joy and they can both get an idea of the amazing person he was and that we, sadly, don't get to see anymore.
I love you JJ, you won't be forgotten.

Memories of Gerald Jr. aka “Gerald Jr.”
I couldn't seem to add this too the memory section as it was too long, but I thought his daughters would appreciate to have this written up as a way to get to know what a great guy he was. I would also like to say to J.J's family that I am so sorry for your loss. J.J was an amazing person and I know we all wish that he could have been able to have beat this.
I use to work with J.J for about 6 years at Cemtol (Linamar), and was lucky to have him as my work partner. Although he preferred to be called J.J outside of work, I fondly remember him as Gerald J.R. Working with J.J made time at a crappy job much more enjoyable. We worked side by side helping each other fulfill the daily work quota, and he was always helping out and would always do his best to keep both our machines in working order. I think it was because of this that he was quickly promoted to lead hand. He was a great person to work with. He was always helping people on our assembly line, trying to make things run smoother. Always smiling and always joking around.
He often was one of the main people at work to be part of the horseplay that staff would participate in as a way to try to pass time. We would often be caught play fighting around the machine, giving each other a sucker punch or a karate chop from time to time. Other times he would participate snow ball fights during the winter, or blow little pellets with air guns at others across the plant at other workers.
I also knew Gerald as caring person who would help people out who needed a ride to work. And even though he was going out of his way to help others, I was surprised at times when he would refuse gas money.
Can’t say I ever had an issue with him in all the years that I worked with him. Really a pleasure to have as a friend. He was always fun to be around and nice to everyone. Such a kind and gentle spirit.
People from work enjoyed listening to him play the guitar, and was always impressed by his dedication to his band practice and his shows that he would perform.
So glad he was able to leave Linamar and become a Chef. But also equally happy that we met such a faithful and beautiful wife, and to have such a wonderful family.
