EULOGY AT THE FUNERAL -
TO MY DARLING HUSBAND, MARIO
MY BEST FRIEND FOREVER!!!
WITH YOU THERE WAS GREAT UNDERSTANDING
EVEN WHEN LIFE GOT TOO DEMANDING. BUT WE MADE MOST OF OUR DREAMS COME TRUE, OVER THE LAST 49 YEARS OF MARRIAGE, AND WE WERE WORKING TOWARDS SOME MORE.
MARIO, WAS A KIND AND CARING MAN. HIS PERSONA WAS CHARMING AND CONFIDENT. HE WAS SIMPLE. HE MADE THE CLOTHES HE WORE, LOOK GOOD. NO MATTER HOW CHEAP THEY WERE. HE WAS THE SILENT TYPE, BUT YET HE COULD BRING A LOT OF LAUGHTER IN THE ROOM WITH HIS JOKES AND LIMERICKS.
EVERY MORNING, HE WOULD WAKE UP AND SING “VOLARE” OH, OH, HO. YOU KNOW THE SONG. ON RETURN FROM WORK, HE’D SING “HARD DAYS NIGHT, I’VE BEEN WORKING LIKE A DOG.” IT WAS WHIMSICAL, BUT IT BROUGHT OUT THE BEST IN ME.
TO ME, MARIO IS A MIRACLE OF GOD’S LOVE. HE ENDURED IMMENSE PAIN, SILENTLY. NOW, HE HAS TRANSITIONED TO THE BEST PLACE, BUT LEFT ME WITH A BROKEN HEART. I LOVE YOU MARIO. YOUR CHILDREN RHEA AND JASON, REBECCA AND ARVIN AND GRAND CHILDREN: SHANICE AND AMBER, ALYSSA AND DEVEN LOVE YOU VERY MUCH. NO WORDS CAN EXRESS HOW MUCH YOU MEAN TO ME/US. EVERYTHING IS GOD’S PLAN. YOU LEAVING US, IS GOD’S PLAN.
NO GOODBYES, MARIO, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, SEE YOU. THANK YOU FOREVER AND FOR EVERYTHING.
OH HONEY, I MISS YOU!! I LOVE YOU. BUT I THANK GOD FOR TAKING YOUR PAIN AWAY AND TAKING YOU INTO HIS HEAVENLY HOME.
REST IN PEACE, MY DARLING.

Twenty-one years ago my family and I moved in next door to Mario & Virginia. As he stood on his front porch and said a simple hello and I remember thinking “This guy would probably be just another neighbour”
As it turns out it didn’t take long before our thoughts changed as a beautiful friendship developed between both our families. We celebrated every occasion together. Him and Virginia were there when our children was born and later became the sponsor for my daughter at her confirmation. It will forever be etched in my memory when Mario would say “I Love You Buddy”
I can simply describe Mario as “A gentle Giant”
He became an important part of our family.
It was eight years ago as we gathered in this very place for my father’s funeral. Mario came up to me and said ‘I would like you to speak at my Funeral’ and I didn’t know what to think at that point. Today I have so much to say but time does not permit. You see he was a man who knew that ‘Death is a necessary end.’
It’s tough to Integrate death with life and we are all aware that Life is exquisitely intertwined with death. To put it simple Life is a necessary beginning and death is a necessary end!
When someone passes, we can’t get over it by forgetting, but by remembering…….and we are aware that no person is ever truly lost or gone once they have been in our lives and loved us… life is short. Never miss an opportunity to say ‘ I love you’..
Years ago someone asked me what is the “right” age to die? The truth is that there is no one answer to that question. When that deep down gut-wrenching feeling hits us like a ton of bricks, let’s do our best to focus on those beautiful moments we shared with Mario and I promise you that a smile will come to your face. Like that funny moment when Mario and I had to capture a mother racoon with her babies nesting in his shed and like all those landmarks in our lives that Mario shared, Christmases, birthdays and Camping.
Mario would trust us completely to look after his house when they went away and we did the same. Many a times when we returned from vacation we would find a home cooked meal on our table .
Virginia we have seen your dedication firsthand
You epitomize the words “Till death do us part” Literally you stayed by his side until he drew his last breath. You were that constant support that every husband would ever hope to have. You did well !
On behalf of my entire family and I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Virginia, Rhea & Family , Rebecca & Family We Love you guys and we share in your pain.
Mario May your Soul rest in Peace. We will miss You
I Love you Buddy.

The world's greatest loving husband, dad, grandfather and uncle. A simple and humble man who worked hard for his family. Always ready to share a joke and bring a smile to your face.
I saw this small poem that touched me.
“We had a wonderful uncle;
One who never really grew old;
His smile was made of sunshine
And his heart was made of gold”
Goodbye for now Uncle Mario, until we see each other again.
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest.”
